How I Remove My Makeup

We’ve all been there, tired at the end of the day and dreading the fact that we have to go wash the makeup off our face. Ugh it’s the worst if you ask me. I don’t want to wash the sleepy away. I always feel like the second water hits my sleepy face I won’t be able to fall asleep and will be staring at my ceiling for a good hour. I try my best to do it before I get too tired because removing your makeup at the end of the day is so important but that doesn’t always happen. You have to allow your skin to breathe during the night so as tedious as feels, don’t sleep with your makeup. Today I’m going to share with you what products I use to remove my makeup and talk about a couple of my favorite products I use here and there.

This Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm is amazing. I can’t remember if I bought mine from Sephora or Ulta but of course Clinique products can be found at most major retailers. I’ll link it on Ulta here. It is $29 for a 3.8 oz tub. The product is solid but as soon as it’s applied to the face in transforms into this silky oil that just melts your makeup right off. You don’t need to wet your face before and it doesn’t take much to get everything off. I wear a lot of waterproof mascara and this get’s it off like a dream. Washes away with water and doesn’t leave your face feeling greasy. It’s so gentle on the skin, no harsh rubbing or pulling at your skin. I highly recommend this product. The instructions on Ulta’s how to use section of this product states to follow with Cliniques 3 step program. If you’re not familiar with the 3 step it’s basically, wash, tone, and moisturize.

After I rinse the cleansing balm off I go in with this Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover. This product is amazing and holds holy grail status for me. I couldn’t tell you how many bottles of this I’ve been through. I wish they made bigger bottles. As far as I know this is the only size that’s offered. A 6 fl oz bottle goes for $7.99 here on the Ulta site. I like to use this facial cleanser because it does a great job cleansing the face but also helps with removing any possible leftover makeup. I use this product with my Clarisonic and it leaves my face super clean. I have no doubt that I have a makeup free face after using this along with the Clinique Take the Day Off.

I also want to share two other products that I love and use occasionally. The Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water is wonderful. I used this religiously before I discovered the cleansing balm. The only reason I stopped using this product is because with the balm I don’t have to worry about using a cotton… well several cotton squares to get all my makeup off. This product can also be purchased at Ulta here for $8.99 for a 13.5 fl oz bottle. It comes in a regular formula (pink bottle) as well as one that removes waterproof mascara (blue bottle). I of course use the waterproof. I still use this from time to time depending on my mood. I will also use it if I ever leave behind mascara around the eyes after my cleansing routine. I’m almost finished with my first bottle. It’s a great affordable option.

I haven’t used makeup wipes to remove my makeup in I couldn’t tell you how long but I always keep these handy. The Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes are my favorite of all the makeup wipes out there. Available at Ulta here for $6.99 for a pack of 25 wipes. These were my ride or die before I discovered these other products. I keep them handy at my vanity for quick clean ups and to clean up small areas like swatches. Like I’ve mentioned several times I use a lot of waterproof mascara and I found myself tugging at my eyelids trying to get my mascara off with these wipes and we all know that the eye area is very delicate. Tugging and pulling is a big no no and can cause wrinkles. This is a wonderful product but it’s just a matter of preference.

I hope you found this post helpful and learned something new. Let me know what your holy grail makeup removing product is in the comments down below. Also, if there is anything you would like me to review, swatch, or talk about please leave those suggestions in the comments as well. Thank you for taking the time to read and until next time lots of love!

Have you tried the Sensitive or original version (pink bottle) of the Garnier Micellar water…? If so would you say the blue bottle works better or the same? I prefer waterproof mascaras as it hold my curl so much better and my lashes are not naturally curled…but I have and am currently using the pink bottle of the Garnier Micellar Water.

I love Bioderm I am sad I didn’t buy a bigger bottle but I wanted to try first. It is my fav product since it doesn’t harm your eyes!
